Glass Import and Export Data Analysis

1. Glass Imports

In April 2026, China's glass import volume stood at 16,000 tons, representing a 33% decrease year-on-year (YoY) but a 1% increase month-on-month (MoM). Cumulative imports for the first four months of 2026 (January–April) totaled 55,200 tons, down by 13,600 tons compared to the same period last year, marking a 19.72% contraction.


Breakdown by Country/Region (April): The top three origins for glass imports in April were Thailand (4,500 tons), Taiwan, China (3,600 tons), and Japan (2,300 tons), accounting for 31%, 25%, and 16% of the monthly total, respectively.


2. Glass Exports

According to customs data, China's glass export volume reached 122,300 tons in April 2026, showcasing strong growth with a 42% surge YoY and a 36% increase MoM. Cumulative exports for January–April 2026 hit 382,700 tons, an increase of 96,900 tons from the previous year, which translates to a 33.89% expansion.


Breakdown by Country (April): The top three destinations for glass exports in April were Poland (13,900 tons), Morocco (5,800 tons), and Chile (5,500 tons), representing 31%, 13%, and 12% of the top-three total volume, respectively.
